Personal Web Discovery has arrived.  What old is new! What was the “Finger” protocol is now the “WebFinger” protocol …

Brad Fitzpatrick, John Panzer, Blaine Cook, Joseph Smarr , Chris Messina, Dewit Clinton, and many other have touched on “Personal Web Discovery” and now they have directly contributed to WebFinger as a protocol.

We are at a stage in the post-Web 2.0 world where great straight forward simple building blocks (or as I call “The Plumbing” or “Guts”) are coming forward.  These include, but are not limited too; OpenID, oAuth, XFN, FOAF, PubSubHubBub, Activity Stre.am, RDF, WebFinger, and on and on …

Let’s focus at the building block at hand – WebFinger …
